Vlatko Andonovski has stepped down from his position as head coach of the US Women’s National Team (USWNT), the US Soccer Federation announced Thursday.
The federation said in a press release that US Soccer and Andonovski mutually agreed to part ways.
United States women's national team General Manager Kate Markgraf and U.S. Soccer have parted ways. Markgraf will not continue in her role but will stay on to provide support through the end of the month to assist in the transition U.S. Soccer announced on Friday.
The former USWNT 1999 World Cup Champion and three-time Olympic medalist was appointed to the role in August 2019.
My choice for new coach is Tony Gustavsson
As coach at Tyreso, Gustavsson got the club to the UEFA Champions League final. He was a candidate to replace Jill Ellis in 2019, but the U.S. went with Andonovski. Australia made it all the way to the World Cup semifinals this year. The socceroos or waltzing mathilda’s or whatever name you ascribe to them looked real good!!! With Gustavsson on staff, the U.S. women did nothing but win: an Olympic gold medal in 2012 under Pia Sundhage, World Cups in 2015 and 2019 under Jill Ellis. He had a huge role in communicating with players from the sideline.
Spain, however, brings home the gold with a goal against England on Sunday, 1-0. They are a fast attacking squad who pass the ball in the Spanish style. Tiki-taka or Tiqui-taca is a style of play in football characterized by short passing and movement, working the ball through various channels, and maintaining possession
Bravo to them.!
LIONEL MESSI AT INTER MIAMI
Messi and his mates capture the League Cup trophy this past weekend. Another trophy for his legend as the GOAT! Now upward and onward to the regular season play in MLS. The only problem is that prior to his arrival in Miami they were dead last in the standings. However, on the bright side they have yet to lose a game since he and his mates from Barcelona have joined him., Inter is 15th in the league standings at the present time. Good Luck, “Flea” bring them back to contend for the league title and to improve the standing of Major League Soccer in the eyes of the world!!
AND THE BEAT GOES ON FOR CAPTAIN AMERICA CHRISTIAN PULISIC
The first impressions of Pulisic on transferring this summer from Chelsea to A.C. Milan are definitely positive. He's adapting fast and well, and the fans are perceiving his attitude as a good sign for the upcoming season. For sure, he needs to work hard to get a starting role in this renovated roster, but he will have his chances. Pioli considers him as the perfect player to overcome some of what lacks in the squad, either as a starter or as a player that can come out of the bench and decide a game
Tactically speaking, Pioli will have to deal with the presence of much more offensive players like Leao, Chukwueze and Pulisic that support striker Olivier Giroud compared to past years. The question is: can they all play together? At the beginning of the season, probably not, but considering that the second lines didn't perform as the starting eleven players, this is definitely a big improvement for the club in any case, at least on paper.
Pulisic needed a place to shine, and AC Milan this season looks like the right place to be, despite the big changes that happened in the summer, including the farewell of former director and club legend Paolo Maldini. Time will tell us if this was the right move for him, but looking at the first weeks of his new chapter at AC Milan, it all seems to be going in the right direction.
Last night, He scored a ‘cracker’ of a goal vs. Bologna in A.C. Milan’s opening game in Serie A competition.
